Speakers will present via zoom, so everyone will also have the option of attending via zoom if you do not wish to attend in person. Doors will open at 6:45pm and snacks will be shared.

Mini Presentation:

Regina Rhoa "Assembling frames and waxing foundation.".  

Main Topic:

"The Fountain: Bee Behaviors, Minds, and King Solomon's Ring" In the talk, I will explain some fascinating bee behaviors, some of which are newly discovered and some of which we forget in the face of beekeeping challenges. 

Biographical Sketch:

Beth Capaldi is a professor of Biology and Animal Behavior at Bucknell University, where she's been for 25 years, teaching courses on the biology of social insects. Her research has primarily been about insect behavior, with a specific focus on learning and memory systems in honey bees. She worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in Entomology and Neuroscience at the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana after completing her PhD in Zoology, Ecology and Evolution at Michigan State University. A native of Rhode Island, she spends her free time riding bicycles. She is the author of a book entitled "Why Do Bees Buzz? Fascinating Answers to Questions about Bees," published by Rutgers University Press in 2009.

Serving Montgomery, Bucks and surrounding counties in Pennsylvania, the MCBAPA is an association of hobbyist and professional beekeepers. Our mission is to provide education, hands-on training, support and fellowship in all aspects of beekeeping. General membership meetings are usually held the 4th Thursday of the month at 7 pm, but please check our calendar.
